About GuideRanger

GuideRanger is an independent educational website that helps everyday users solve common laptop, computer and printer problems with clear, step-by-step guides.

Why the site exists

When a laptop won’t start, a printer says it’s offline or Wi-Fi drops out, most people don’t need jargon. They need to know what’s most likely wrong, what they can safely try, and when it’s time to contact the manufacturer. Official help pages are thorough but often assume you already know where to look. GuideRanger writes calm, plain-English guides that start from the symptom you can see and work through the fixes in a sensible order.

What we cover

The guides are organized as two trails with equal weight: computer help and printer help.

Every guide opens with a quick answer, explains why the problem happens, gives numbered steps (separated for Windows and Mac where they differ), lists common mistakes, and ends with clear signs that it’s time for the manufacturer’s official support or a qualified repair service.

What we are not

GuideRanger is not a repair company, tech-support line or manufacturer. Specifically, we:

  • do not repair devices, take bookings or offer phone, chat or remote support;
  • will never ask to connect to your computer or ask you to install software for us;
  • are not affiliated with, sponsored, certified or authorized by Microsoft, Apple, HP, Canon, Epson, Brother, Dell, Lenovo or any other brand;
  • do not sell devices, ink, software or anything else.

Brand and product names appear only to describe which devices and systems a step applies to. When a problem needs hands-on help, our guides point you to the manufacturer’s official support website or a qualified repair service of your choice.

How the guides are made

Guides are written and reviewed by the GuideRanger Editorial Team. Drafts may be prepared with the help of AI writing tools, and every guide is checked and edited before publication. Steps are checked against official operating-system and manufacturer documentation, which is linked at the end of each guide. When menus or buttons vary by version or model, we say so rather than guess. Our Editorial Policy explains the process in full.

How the site is funded

The site does not currently display advertising, use affiliate links or accept payment from technology companies, retailers or repair businesses. We may promote the site through online advertising so more people can find the guides. If we ever add advertising or commercial relationships to the site itself, we will label them clearly and update this page and our policies first.
